Students, faculty, and volunteer attorneys associated with the Thomas Jefferson Veterans Legal Assistance Clinic (VLAC) participated in the 38th annual San Diego Stand Down this past weekend. Stand Down is a three-day resource fair for homeless veterans that takes place on the athletic fields at San Diego High School and is sponsored by Veterans Village of San Diego. Volunteers and other staff provide food, shelter, showers, clothing, medical, dental and vision care, and a variety of other services to participating veterans. The VLAC provided free legal assistance to veterans with regard to a wide range of civil legal issues including veterans and other disability benefits, family law, bankruptcy, and housing law. The VLAC has regularly participated in Stand Down since its inception in 2006.
