Valedictorian Walter Araujo will be one of approximately 200 Juris Doctor students scheduled to walk across the stage at Copley Symphony Hall in downtown, San Diego on Saturday, May 18, 2013.

20 students will receive their International Tax and Financial Services LL.M. degree and Dr. Olufeyisan Feyi-Sobanjo will receive his J.S.D. which is the Ph.D. of law. “Indeed, I feel very proud and highly fulfilled to have the honor and privilege of being the first J.S.D. degree earner at Thomas Jefferson School of Law,” said Feyi-Sobanjo. “For this reason, I commend the foresight of the Thomas Jefferson School of Law for blazing a trail in taking the advantage of technology to eliminate location and physical barrier to quality legal education by establishing innovative, rigorous, stimulating and high quality programs as the LL.M. and the J.S.D. to empower ambitious and highly committed scholars, researchers and practitioners around the world.” The commencement speaker will be Thomas Jefferson School of Law’s Dean and President Rudy Hasl, who has earned the distinction of currently being the longest serving law school dean in America. Dean Hasl recently announced that he will be stepping down this year after more than three decades of leadership in legal education. His last day is June 30, 2013, concluding 32 years of service at four different ABA law schools, including TJSL, Saint Louis University, St. John’s University and Seattle University. The doors at Copley Symphony Hall, located at 750 B Street will open at 9 a.m. The Graduation procession starts promptly at 10 a.m. There are no tickets required. Seating is first come, first served.

Following the graduation ceremony, all TJSL graduates along with their family and friends are invited to a reception that will be held at the law school located at 1155 Island Avenue where light hors d’oeuvres will be served.
