Martin Kruming '77 (L) Receives the Witkin Award

Thomas Jefferson School of Law alumnus Martin Kruming ‘77 was presented with the highly prestigious Bernard Witkin Award on March 28 by the Law Library Justice Foundation. Since 1994, the Witkin Foundation annually has honored members of the San Diego legal community for civic leadership, teaching, practice and adjudication of the law.

Kruming, who is the editor of the San Diego County Bar Association’s San Diego Lawyer Magazine, was honored for Distinguished Service to the Public, in recognition for his many public service activities.

When asked which of his public service endeavors he feels best about, Kruming said: “I have always enjoyed working with students, whether they are in elementary, high school, college or law school. One of the most meaningful experiences was a High School Leadership Conference that brought some of the best and brightest students together with lawyers, judges, executives and journalists each year for five years.”

And for lawyers and law students thinking about devoting some of their efforts to public service causes, Kruming had these words of wisdom:  “Find your passion in public service and know that you can make a difference.”

Martin Kruming certainly has made a difference. Congratulations from all of us in the TJSL family!
