Dr. Richard Gendler is the co-faculty director of Thomas Jefferson's J.S.D. program. He is also a full-time Professor of Business Law and Ethics at the Florida Atlantic University College of Business where he serves as the College’s Business Law and Ethics Coordinator. Dr. Gendler has published several scholarly articles, and taught several continuing legal education courses, related to topical consumer bankruptcy and accounting issues. He presently serves on several Florida Bar committees, including the Law Education Committee, the Student Education and Admissions to the Bar Committee, and is Vice Chair of the Florida Bar’s Seventeenth Judicial Circuit Grievance Committee. Dr. Gendler has previously served on the Florida Bar Federal Rules Practice Committee, as well as the Bankruptcy Mortgage Mediation Committee for the Southern District of Florida.
Dr. Gendler is a member of Miami Law, PLLC, a multidisciplinary law office in South Florida concentrating in the areas of criminal, bankruptcy, real estate, tax, estate planning, probate, and civil matters. He is a member of the Florida Bar, the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida, the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Florida, the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Tax Court. Dr. Gendler is licensed by the State of Florida as a 2-15 life, health and variable annuity agent, and a 2-20 general lines agent. He is designated a Master Financial Professional (MFP) by the American Academy of Financial Management and is an appointed agent for several insurance companies.
Dr. Gendler received a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Psychology in 1989 from the University of Hartford, a Doctorate in Jurisprudence (J.D.) from the University of Miami in 1992, a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from TJSL in 2009, a Diploma of Expertise in Bankruptcy and Restructuring from TJSL in 2009, and a Doctor of Science in Law (J.S.D.) from TJSL in 2013.
